The project uses graphic facilitation to translate scientific data into visual formats focused on bocage (hedgerow landscapes) and hedgerows, making complex information easier to understand. By anchoring the content in a locally relevant theme, it highlights concrete ecosystem functions and positions bocage as an existing response to climate challenges.
Target (Disengaged)
The project targets rural audiences through dissemination at local public events (e.g. festivals), reaching populations not typically engaged in climate issues. By using visual and accessible formats and focusing on a familiar landscape element (bocage and hedgerows), it creates an entry point linked to everyday surroundings. The exhibition at Mont Saint-Michel also enables exposure to a broader and more diverse public, including visitors who may not actively seek climate-related content.
Science – Based
Based on GIEC Normand 2 work on bocage and hedgerows, with scientific data translated into visual supports and validated through expert review. The approach ensures accessibility while maintaining a clear link to scientific content.
Gender
The project ensures gender balance within the implementation team, but does not include a specific approach to participation or to reflecting gendered experiences of climate impacts within the content.
Planned activities
Direct beneficiaries: At least ~10,000 participants (rural residents participating in events, Carameuh Festival), Visitors exposed through display at Mont Saint-Michel (high footfall tourist site)
Planned activities / indicators:
- Creation of a series of illustrated panels (based on GIEC Normand 2 data) on bocage and hedgerows, designed as pedagogical supports
- Organisation and participation in at least two dissemination events, including the Carameuh Festival (~10,000 participants) and Plant’haies as well as display at Mont Saint-Michel
- Development of reusable visual materials (illustrated panels adaptable to print and digital formats) for dissemination across different events and settings
Action model
- Translate scientific data on bocage and hedgerows into clear and accessible visual formats (illustrated panels), making climate functions and ecosystem services understandable
- Disseminate these materials through local events and exhibitions, including a high-visibility site (Mont Saint-Michel), targeting rural audiences and linking climate issues to familiar landscapes
