It aims to promote the adoption of more environmentally friendly behaviours among families from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds by encouraging the use of bicycles. By increasing children’s access to bicycles and fostering regular cycling habits, the project supports sustainable mobility, physical activity and positive behavioural change within families and local communities.
Target (Disengaged)
- 220 children aged 5 to 11 from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds;
- 220 parents and caregivers of children aged 5 to 11 from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Planned activities
- R1.1. Increased number of children with access to a properly sized personal bicycle.
- R1.2. Increased monthly exposure time of children to bicycle mobility-related themes.
- R1.3. Improved motor skills related to bicycle use among participating children.
- R1.4. Statistically significant increase in the distances cycled, measured through the bicycle mileage counter developed within the project.
- R1.5. Statistically significant reduction in the use of private cars as a means of transport among children participating in the Tardes da Bicla activities.
- R2.1. Development of an analogue mileage counter designed for children’s bicycles.
- R2.2. Collection of data on children’s mobility habits using the methodology described in De Sompel et al. (2020).
- R2.3. Collection of data on pro-environmental attitudes based on the NEP and NEP-C scales.
