Type of project
The project will support families living below the poverty line to access and benefit from financial aid schemes under common law, in particular the National Housing Agency. By giving them access to a work programme of €75,000 (on average), they will be able to heat their homes more effectively and efficiently and protect from heat waves.
Leveraging a large network in partnership with Secours Islamique France, the project will support the channelling of public funding to the most vulnerable households allowing them to improve the energy rating of their home, allowing for better environmental outcomes while substantially reducing their energy bills.
Target (Disengaged)
The project offers direct financial support to those living below the poverty line to improve the energy efficiency of their homes, guaranteeing that the measures align with their household priorities and wellbeing while contributing to environmental outcomes.
Science – Based
Based on a number of published studies related to how improving household energy rating through investments leads to substantial and sustainable economic and enviromental outcomes. Ecohabitat program is mentioned in the government’s national strategy.
Gender
The project will address all genders, guaranteeing at least 60% of targeted households will be female led (single or with children)
Planned activities
- 100 new families to be supported withn the project in the Hauts de France region, and 200 families indirectly through support to project leaders in other regions.
Action model
- Develop and launch a communication campaign to engage 100 new households in the project
- Engage a technical team dedicated to training on improving household energy classification
- Support households to access funding to make energy efficiency improvements
