Type of project

It aims to contribute to the development of more sustainable coastal communities in the municipality of Viana do Castelo. By promoting ocean literacy and community participation, the project fosters the protection of coastal ecosystems through sport-based activities and citizen science, encouraging long-term civic engagement and environmental stewardship.

Target (Disengaged)

• 4,000 school-aged young people (10–18 years old);
• 500 young people at risk of social exclusion (10–18 years old);
• 60 people with physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities;
• 120 people aged 65 and over.

Planned activities

• R1. Children, young people and adults in the municipality of Viana do Castelo actively participate in activities aimed at the protection of the coastal environment.
• R2. A sustainable model with continuity and potential for replication in other coastal communities is developed and disseminated.
