Type of project

Water Well-being Mapping aims to explore the relationship between the quality of marine and aquatic ecosystems and human well-being among younger generations in Esposende. Through a participatory and citizen science-based methodology, the project engages students and teachers in environmental literacy and territorial awareness, contributing to the medium- and long-term conservation of local aquatic ecosystems and supporting local environmental education and municipal planning processes.

Target (Disengaged)

100 students from primary education (1st cycle);
150 students from lower secondary education (2nd and 3rd cycles);
100 students from upper secondary education;
15 teachers from local school clusters.

Planned activities

R1.1. Increased ecological and cultural knowledge among young participants regarding the aquatic ecosystems of Esposende.
R1.2. Improved environmental and socio-emotional literacy among young people through citizen science and the integration of objective data with subjective perceptions.
R2.1. Strengthened capacity of young people and teachers to analyse and visualise data related to water well-being.
R2.2. Development, use and ownership of Water Well-being Maps as visual and communication tools, applied in environmental education, awareness-raising and environmental planning.
