Huelva in Transition II: Sowing Sustainable Mobility

Type of project

The project promotes sustainable mobility in schools and local communities through practical activities, educational workshops and networking collaboration to transform transport habits.

It responds to the need to reduce carbon emissions by transforming transport habits, promoting sustainability in a province with a deficiency in public transport and a high dependence on the private car.

The implementation will be 6 months

Target (Disengaged)

Students, teachers, families, neighbourhood associations and town councils of municipalities in the province of Huelva, with emphasis on vulnerable groups and areas of high traffic congestion.

Science – Based

To use research on sustainable transport, carbon emissions reduction and urban mobility to design workshops and campaigns, ensuring the validity of proposals from a scientific approach.

Gender

It integrates specific actions to encourage the participation of women and girls, promoting equality in access to and use of sustainable means of transport such as bicycles, a historically masculinised environment.

Planned activities

• Increasing participants’ knowledge of sustainable mobility, workshops on safe school roads, and strengthening social cohesion through community activities focused on sustainability.

Action model

• It implements sustainable mobility workshops, cultural bicycle routes, educational activities on bicycle mechanics, learning to ride and cycling campaigns, awareness-raising to engage the community in adopting sustainable practices. Organising pathways sustainable schools (walking, cycling, public transport), with advocacy with key actors (municipalities).
