Type of project

A multidisciplinary campaign in the field of waste to raise awareness about single-use plastic consumption and map public water sources.

The project intends to create a multidisciplinary campaign aimed at raising public awareness—particularly among those less receptive to environmental issues—about the need for a shift in the consumption of single-use plastics. At the same time, involving the Municipality of Ceccano and the water service provider in the area, in the accurate mapping of public water sources and, where possible, the restoration of decommissioned ones.

Planned activities

• Census and mapping of public sources: Detection and verification of the operating status of fountains and sources present in the municipal area, with technical support from Acea Ato 5.
• Analysis and communication of water quality: Collaboration with local authorities to carry out chemical analyses of water and make the results public on site and online, in a transparent and updated manner.
• Awareness campaign: Creation of information materials, social campaigns and public initiatives to encourage the conscious use of public water and promote a plastic-free lifestyle.
• Involvement of citizens: Events and moments of discussion to collect reports, ideas and proposals from citizens on the topic of water and the environment.

Action model

• Collecting ad hoc (and very context-specific) data to explain the benefit of adopting good practices and, hence, putting into practices more sustainable water use (less use of plastic bottles).
