Summary of the project

The aim of the project is to create a model of urban agriculture that is based on: 1) a user friendly app that calculates the footprint that our food choices have on the planet to sensitize citizens to healthy and environmental ethical choices; 2) transfer these sustainable food choices into actions for the creation of city gardens on balconies and terraces with the techniques of the Bioactive Garden that guarantee: high nutraceutical quality vegetables, without chemistry, low water consumption, self-regenerating fertility and greater sequestration of CO2 in the ground; 3) use of tanks with Wiseair technology for monitoring air quality.

Overall achievements

The project allocated 6 different urban bioactive garden installations on the city area of Milan as an example of a possible sustainable urban agriculture.
At the 6 installations it has been placed 6 stations for reading the concentration of fine dust monitored by the Wiseair system which are mapped on the Wiseair app.
It has been implemented a live web workshop using Fb and Zoom to show how to make a home garden.
The Green Forks app has been created: it gives information on which foods are most sustainable by encouraging food choices that have a lower impact on the planet and contribute less to climate change.
