For a living heritage and a sustainable future.
CSO: CUCO Club de Córdoba para la UNESCO
Area: Green cities, green social jobs and green workplaces
Location:Montilla and Baena (province of Córdoba) and also in the rest of Andalusia.
Type of project
Mobilise action for sustainability in rural areas, combating climate disengagement by promoting trust in science and using heritage (cultural and natural) as a strategic axis to drive fair and resilient social transformation in the business, education and heritage management sectors.
The existence of multiple disconnected groups in rural areas, especially in areas in need of social transformation, which, despite global awareness, do not translate knowledge into concrete actions due to specific barriers (economic, cultural or knowledge-related). The project addresses the disconnection of three key groups (Business, Heritage, Education) by creating a series of three specialised webinars. This ensures that scientific evidence is at the heart of the message, making it accessible and relevant to the daily decisions of each sector.
The duration of the implementation is 6 months.
Target (Disengaged)
The project uses ‘Double Vision’ (individual and institution) to ensure deep engagement. Awareness and engagement will be achieved through message segmentation and the delivery of practical value through a cycle of three specialised webinars. Engagement and Awareness Mechanisms: 1. Focus on Individual Action (Double Vision); 2. Use of Science to Build Trust (Level of Awareness); 3. Capitalisation for Institutional Replicability.
It is expected that at least 200 unconnected individuals (citizens and rural professionals who have not been contacted previously) will participate. A significant number of citizens will also be directly mobilised as direct attendees of the webinar series. At least 1.500 individuals are expected to be reached.
Science – Based
The project aligns with the requirement to anchor communication in science and uses only proven science to combat mistrust, positioning heritage (natural and cultural) as tangible evidence of the need for and viability of sustainable action. IPCC reports will be used, and evidence of sustainable heritage management practices will be presented.
Gender
Gender mainstreaming is a principle of the project, recognising that climate change is not gender neutral and that inequality exacerbates social vulnerability. Inclusive and non-sexist language will be used; female roles will be made visible; differentiated analysis of barriers will be carried out; and gender data will be collected from participants.
Planned activities
- Mobilise action for sustainability in rural areas, combating climate disengagement by promoting trust in science and using heritage (cultural and natural) as a strategic axis to drive fair and resilient social transformation in the business, education and heritage sectors. This will increase scientific knowledge and trust in sustainability, generating practical capacities for action. All of the above will be done with a view to maximising impact, replicability and sustainability over time.
