Type of project
Territorial project translating GIEC Normand 2 data into practical actions on flood risk, combining training (elected officials), citizen awareness, and school-based engagement.
A well-anchored territorial approach linking climate science to a concrete local issue (flooding). Its strength lies in combining capacity-building of elected officials, awareness of residents, and education of youth. Activities are embedded within existing territorial dynamics (intercommunal actors, regional festival), with participatory elements and concrete actions (e.g. participatory workshops, planting of hedgerows) that support local appropriation.
Target (Disengaged)
The project effectively targets groups not typically engaged in climate action, including residents who may be directly exposed to flood risks but lack awareness or preparedness, and newly elected officials who may not yet integrate climate considerations into decision-making. Targeted communication channels (local media, municipal networks) and immersive formats (e.g. participatory workshops at a large public event) create accessible and engaging entry points linked to everyday risks for local residents.
Science – Based
Based on GIEC Normand 2, and related thematic work (water, soils, bocage), translated into localized synthesis tools and awareness activities. Scientific content is adapted to the territorial scale and validated through expert input, strengthening credibility.
Gender
The activities are inclusive by design, with a stated objective of parity in participation and interventions, but there is no explicit gender engagement approach.
Planned activities
Direct beneficiaries: ~15 elected officials (training), Residents, ~5 school classes (~100–125 students)
Indirect beneficiaries: Wider public via regional event (~20,000 visitors ; ~100 active participants in workshops).

Action model
- Translate scientific data into locally actionable knowledge and support elected officials to integrate climate adaptation and flood risk into territorial planning
- Engage residents and students through practical, action-based awareness activities, including communication campaigns, participatory workshops, and concrete environmental actions (e.g. hedgerow planting)
- Use participatory tools (e.g. future scenarios, models) and local events to foster collective reflection, ownership, and uptake within existing territorial dynamics
