CSO: Coopawatt
Area: Green Jobs
Location: Lyon, Rhône

Type of project

Helping underserved young people overcome stereotypes around the ecological transition, build confidence and legitimacy, and access concrete training and employment opportunities in the green sector.

The project directly addresses the lack of interest, confidence, and perceived legitimacy among young people regarding the ecological transition by turning energy and climate issues into concrete, hands-on experiences – such as building a street cooling system, visiting renovation and solar installation sites, co-creating and running a solar treasure hunt, interviewing residents about local heat and energy challenges, participating in interactive workshops, and engaging in public events where they present their work, support awareness-raising activities and connect these experiences to real green job opportunities.

Target (Disengaged)

The project directly targets underserved young people by re-engaging them through non-moralising, hands-on and locally rooted activities.

Science – Based

Aligned with national and regional directives (e.g., ADEME) and member of multiple network (Energie Partagee, Reseau pour la transition Energetique, AMORCE, ANCIELA, etc.)

Gender

The project integrates a gender perspective by ensuring mixed-gender groups, highlighting female role models in transition-related professions (starting with the project team itself, which includes three women under 30), and promoting inclusive facilitation that encourages everyone to speak and participate.

  • Organize a solar treasure hunt project in La Duchère: Workshops on renewable energy and green jobs, Co-design a solar-themed treasure hunt, Install and showcase a solar panel on-site
  • Scaling “Energy Shakers”: Create simple toolkits (treasure hunt + energy transition workshop), Distribute to partners (e.g. BRICC)
