Centre Social Roland Charrier
CSO: Centre Social Roland Charrier
Area: Green Jobs
Location: Montreuil Bellay, Maine-et-Loire
Type of project
Support rural youth toward social and professional inclusion by improving access to the ecological transition and promoting gender equality in technical and agricultural careers
The project directly addresses rural youth by shifting them from eco-anxiety to active engagement through hands-on learning in a local Tiers-Lieu, such as agroecology practices and low-tech workshops with local professionals. It highlights concrete, non-relocatable green jobs in sectors like farming, viticulture, and repair-based trades to show viable career paths in their territory.
Target (Disengaged)
The project directly targets rural youth (16–20), including students from the agricultural high school and young people supported by the Mission Locale who are often disengaged from traditional education and employment pathways.
It re-engages them through a bottom-up approach emerging from informal youth spaces, where “blabla evenings” revealed a strong need to move from eco-anxiety to action. Youth are involved professionals and the activities, exploring green careers as active investigators during field visits with professionals, and finally becoming peer ambassadors by producing radio podcasts that share their experiences and insights with the wider community.
