Badinage Artistique

CSO: Badinage Artistique
Area: Green Jobs
Location: Tièrache, Hauts-de-France

Type of project

A rural inclusion project empowering disadvantaged youth (16-30 yo) with hands-on low-carbon skills training and access to green careers in a circus tent

The project directly addresses the “double disadvantage” faced by rural youth in Thiérache: geographic isolation and limited awareness of green career pathways. Through hands-on workshops in agroecology, low-tech and facilitation, combined with mobility support and practical learning methods, the project empowers disadvantaged young people (16-30) to become active actors of the rural transition. The program also promotes gender equality through mixed activities and video capsules highlighting inspiring female role models in technical transition careers.

Target (Disengaged)

The project directly targets disadvantaged rural youth (16-30) in Thiérache, particularly those supported by l’Ecole de la 2chance and Mission Locale who face geographic isolation and limited access to green career pathways. It (re)engages them by turning them into active “experts of use” through co-design workshops, hands-on low-tech activities, and participation in creating training tools and video capsules.

Science – Based

Aligned with The Shift Project’s findings on limited access to low-carbon jobs for working-class youth and CARIF-OREF reports on rural precarity and isolation, the project is evidence-based and addresses structural inequalities in training and employment.

It uses an experiential learning model inspired by Bloom’s taxonomy, building legitimacy through hands-on practice and progressive skill development in transition-related jobs, supported by ongoing data-driven monitoring of participation and impact.

Gender

The project has no gender-specific target but promotes gender equality through mixed workshops and equal participation. It also highlights female role models in target professions.
