Agroregen25: Training and dissemination of regenerative livestock practices

Type of project

The project aims to raise awareness, train and promote the adoption of regenerative livestock practices among local farmers. It combines education, mentoring, visits successful experiences and the use of modern technologies to achieve a transition to sustainability.

The local livestock sector faces challenges such as resistance to change, lack of information and environmental degradation. This project addresses these issues through education practice and scientific dissemination, aligning with environmental priorities.

The implementation will last 9 months.

Target (Disengaged)

Local livestock farmers (50 participants), including women livestock farmers (40% of the total), young people in training and technicians linked to the agro-livestock sector in the Sierra de Cádiz. The livestock sector is often sceptical about climate change and reluctant to change its working methodology.

Science – Based

The project will provide evidence-based and science-based data for regenerative practices. Experts present benefits of regenerative livestock farming. Monitoring and evaluation. Practical workshops with monitoring techniques. Use of innovative technologies, focus on evidence-based awareness raising. Collaborations with scientists.

Gender

Promotes gender equality through mentoring led by rural women, includes rural women’s empowerment as a clear line in the project, ensuring equal participation in all project activities and making visible the key role rural women in regenerative livestock farming.

Planned activities

• Raise awareness of participating farmers on the benefits of regenerative practices, improve practical skills in regenerative animal husbandry techniques, to improve the sustainability of local farms and create a support network for sustainable livestock farming in the Sierra of Cádiz.

Action model

• It combines scientific dissemination days, practical workshops, women-led mentoring and visits to successful farms, using technologies such as GPS virtual fencing and rotational grazing strategies.
