Type of project

The project seeks to empower young people aged 16-25 from underserved neighborhoods in Marseille through film creation and environmental education.

The project addresses the lack of access for young people from underserved neighborhoods to environmental awareness initiatives and career opportunities in the green sector. By using short films as a tool for self-expression and civic engagement, it aims to reduce inequalities in access to culture, information, and environmental careers.

Target (Disengaged)

The project directly targets underserved neighborhoods in Marseille, an area affected by major social inequalities and environmental challenges such as air pollution, urban heat islands, limited access to green spaces, and energy insecurity. By focusing on young residents, the project seeks to raise awareness of local ecological issues and encourage civic engagement through creative expression.

Science – Based

Uses questionnaires and attendance sheets to monitor impact.

Gender

The project welcomes participants of all genders and does not apply any gender-specific targeting.

Planned activities

Direct beneficiaries: 10-15 young (16-25 yo) from underserved neighborhoods are trained in short film production and educated about the challenges of the ecological transition

Planned activities / indicators:

• 1 short film on environmental issues
• 1 public screening followed by a debate 

Action model

• A short-film training program including workshops in screenwriting, directing, cinematography, sound, and editing, enabling young participants to develop artistic and technical skills
• Two workshops specifically dedicated to ecological transition issues, focusing on local environmental challenges and everyday sustainable practices
• A masterclass on emerging green transition careers, led by professionals from the sector to present concrete and accessible career paths
• The collective production of short films on the themes of ecology and sustainability transitions
• A public film screening followed by a discussion with participants and the audience, encouraging dialogue and civic awareness
