Type of project

A project in the field of circular economy and waste management, focusing on circular design, sustainability, and creative craftsmanship with biomaterials, paper, and textiles.

Participants will be guided through pathways dedicated to circular design, sustainability, and creative craftsmanship, exploring the potential of biomaterials, paper, and textiles.

People will co-design an installation as an act of civic engagement, aiming to see circularity and sustainability not only as tools for saving or being more efficient, but as an opportunity to innovate and create value through creativity and art.

Target (Disengaged)

The initiatives will target a cross-sectional group of individuals who perceive waste or the scarcity of essential resources/raw materials for survival as distant or irrelevant issues in their daily lives. Alternatively, as in the case of economic operators, they may lack the means to transform these challenges into added value for their business.

The project aims to inspire and motivate girls and adult women through encounters with successful female role models in the fields of sustainability and circular design.

Planned activities

Workshops for different targets: Tailored training courses for NEETs, students, artisans, restaurateurs and inattentive citizens. Each group explores the possibilities of circular design applied to their daily reality.
Production of a collective installation: Co-design and creation of a symbolic installation that represents the community’s commitment to sustainable and creative practices.
Toolkit and measurement instruments: Introduction to tools for monitoring environmental impacts and consumption (e.g. LCA, material passports), to increase awareness and the measurability of changes.
Campaigns and public awareness-raising moments: Communication activities and open events to broaden the scope of the project and activate new territorial networks.

Action model

Guiding a cohesive group through a practical journey to generate change within the community
Transferring the principles of circular design through 7 hands-on sessions, supported by modeling software and rapid prototyping tools, with the aim of transforming various types of waste into biomaterials and design objects using a creative and artistic approach.
